Game Review

Well off to the Angel Inn we went, it was 6.15 pm and Clint was concerned that we would not get there in time. The Angel is a funny little place which looks tiny from the outside but is quite large when you actually get in there, the dartboard is tucked right at the back. On to the 4 a side, we hammered them in the scoring but could not hit the double with yours truly missing 6 darts, 1-0 down and our title hopes looking a little grimmer. I was on 1st in the singles and had a tussle with the Angel man, missed the double in the 1st leg but just managed to win 2-1, not a good game but a point. On next was the Greek, Like Stavros on acid Clintos was straight into his rhythm and easily won 2-0. Next up was Cliff the quiff, again that mystery inner ear problem had afflicted him as he swayed left and right desperately trying to find level ground. In the end it went to 1-1 and in full swaying motion Cliff nicked the deciding leg. The 4th singles for us was Jabber, lost the first leg but then he seemed to summon upon Pingu the penguin god for help, swiftly he won the second leg on tops for 1-1, the third leg was crucial and Phil from the Angel was rattled, Jabber, with all of the grace of a Giraffe with rickets, was masterful, finishing the leg with double top again for a 2-1 win and to win us the match. The 1st pair was me and Andy, we trounced them in the first leg but could not hit the double and lost it, we easily won the second leg but in the third that old double trouble hit us again as we just could not finish and lost 2-1. The last pairing was Clintos the Greek and the swaying mantis Cliff. They lost the first leg but rallied in the second for 1-1, Cliff does not know the meaning of defeat (he doesn't know the meaning of moderation either) and steered the Greek to the double which he pegged with double 8 for a 2-1 win. Straight onto the captains leg and a fairly easy win for me. What a result from the team! Even without the marsupial man Chris Kibbey who had deserted us in favour of a swingers party in Thame we still came up with the goods. The last game of the season next week and we are home to the Snooker Club, a win for the Cods will win us the league!
