Game Review

Missing a few players this week, Andy and his other half Charli had a little baby boy called Alfie born on Tuesday so naturally he is at home looking after mother and child. Clintos the Greek was away with the furure Mrs Greek so we are a couple of players down but we have plenty of reserves snapping at their heels to get a game.

First time we have played the Butchers Arms, the place looks a little pokey from the outside but is actually rather nice when you go in, it has quite a few dartboards and a pool table. On to the game, first on for the CODS again way Chris "Marsupial Man" Kibbey, played another good game and recorded an impressive 2-0 win. Second on for the CODS was Cliff "The Swaying Mantis" Southam, back from holidays he looked intoxicated invigorated and took no time at all to record a 2-0 win for the CODS to go 2-0 up in the match. Next on was the first of our Welsh contingent, Graham "Grim Reaper" Woodward, with the style and grace of a polar bear with toothache he powered to a 2-1 win. Fourth on for the CODS was debutant Kevin Dursley, Kevin struggled with his first match for years and although he levelled at 1-1 he just could not find the double in the next and lost 2-1. Match score now 3-1 to the CODS. Next up was last weeks cod of the week, Chris "Jabber" Green, on a curfew from the wife, anti depressants from the doctor and mad cow desiese from too much breeding with dumb animals he easily won the first leg, the Butchars man then found a new gear and although Jabber put up another good show he went down 2-1. Last on was yours truly, only saved in the singles due to Andy and Clint not being here so looking to make amends, Played quite well and won 2-0 and hit my doubles for a change :)  On to the pairs now, first up was Kibbey and The Swaying Mantis, Kibbey was rock solid as usual and The Mantis was Rock n Rolla, a fairly easy 2-0 win and that means the CODS win the match. 2nd pair up is The Reaper and Colin "All the gear - no idea" Bird, Colin played well but Graham had a poor showing, eventually losing the game 2-1 but taking the disco dancing championship with his oki coki and his patented two step, watch out Cliff there is another swayer in town!   Last on was myself and Jonesey the landlord, missed the double on the first leg which gifted that to the Butchers pair we stole the second and the third legs for a 2-1 win in a game we should really have lost but hey ho, thats darts. CODS win 6-3.
