So the big one has arrived, we play our nearest rivals where a win will effectively win us the league and a loss will pile the pressure on the last game. We are away to the pigeons for this one and have a full contingent.
Singles:
First on was Andy, had a good game against their birthday boy and romped home 2-0
Second singles was Chris Kibbey and although his scoring was not its usual standard his doubles were great and won 2-0
Third on was the Reaper, lost the first leg but recovered well and in a tight game won 2-1
Fourth was Clintos playing Phil, Clint should have won 2-0 and then 2-1 but had so many darts at a double and just could not put it away and lost 2-1
Fifth on was The Swaying Mantis, he was playing Kay the only lady in their side and never even looked like taking a leg, although she played well the mantis looked slightly unsteady on his feet at times and hit the roof beams mor times than the board.
Last on was me, got battered in the first leg, missed the d19 for a 155 checkout and then fannied around with another 9 darts at a double and lost 2-0, what a prat
Score 3-3 after the singles and we move into the pairs:
Pairs:
Kangaroo Man and The Hoare -This pairing is turning into the best in the league, lost the first leg and then just got their heads down and won 2-1
The Reaper and the Greek - Never really played well and struggled, lost 2-0
Last pair Nikkiboy and Colin "No Idea" Bird who replaced the "tired" mantis. Won the first leg easily with an 83 checkout but then strugged to get the double in the second, 1-1 in legs and the match is all on the last leg, we got to the double first but did our usual missing trick along with the pigeons pair, in the end I think it was the law of averages that saw my last darts hit the d4 for the victory 2-1
CODS win 5-4
Right where do I start, well done guys a fantastic team effort which has won us the league, thank you to Jabber who sat out this week and also to Clare for her support. They piled a lot of pressure on us that night but some of us were just brilliant, Andy and Chris Kibbey with their wins especially. We were looking really good at 3-0 but bad luck on the double from Clintos, balancing beam issues from Cliff and sheer crap darts from the captain piled loads of pressure on the pairs and he held strong, well played also to Colin who helped win the final game for the match.
Next game 15th April home to the MLSSC and we just need one game to win the league officially although if the pigeons have not won 9-0 the week before we will already have won.
