Away this week to the Eagle Tavern and looking for a little revenge as we lost 6-3 to them at our place after going 3-0 up. The Kangaroo man and Jabber were meeting us there so it was meet at the Cotty for were the rest of us. After a few shandys and a couple of games we headed for the Eagle Tavern. It is not a bad place but has a fairly low ceiling which can be off putting for some. Draw done and the games afoot:
Singles:
First on was Chris Kibbey, to be honest Chris didn't play very well in this, in recent weeks he has been hitting treble 20s for fun but seem to be struggling with the throw, locked at one leg all he pulled out a great double to win our first point of the night.
Second - Andy Hoare, a polished performance from the hoare and an easy 2-0 win.
Third - Yours truly, started first throw and hit my doubles, never scored well but it was a 2-0 win.
Fourth- Graham Woodward, A good solid game from the Reaper and a double 18 for the game 2-0
Fifth - Cliff Southam, The swaying mantis was on full Anthony Fleet mode but hit his doubles to win 2-0
Last - Clint Chivers, The greek played well and won well 2-0
Cods now leading 6-0 after the singles, a cracking start and we needed to carry it on because we need every point to try and pull ahead of the Three Pidgeons.
Pairs:
Kangaroo Man and The Hoare - A close game this, went to 1-1 and was won by us with a double 3, at least that was what I was told, yes the captain was hiding again because every time I looked we missed lol.
Nikkiboy and The Reaper - A decent game from both of us saw an easy 2-0 win.
The Swaying Mantis and The Greek - A lot of swaying and pointing in this game but at 1-1 the mantis found a D16 to win 2-1
Our first 9-0 win of the season!
What a win and all of those points were needed, the scoreline flattered us as maybe a 7-2 would have been fairer but hell we will take this. A mention must be made for Jabber and Colin who sat out the pairs after we went 6-0 up and also to Clare for her support.
Absolutely brilliant fellas can't fault you all, that puts us 13 points up on the Pidgeons less what they scored last night against the Yeomen. Big game next week as we are away to the Pidgeons, a win will surely give us the league and a loss will even the race with one game each to go, one thing is for sure it is going to be an interesting finish to the season.
