A very good result on the whole,
disappointed to lose the 4 a side but winning both pairs and 3 out of
the 4 singles more than made up for it. The Chequers "B" are a nice
group, the pub is quite friendly and there were scantily clad young
ladies everywhere, not that any of our side noticed :o) We could have
won the both the games which we lost, in the 4's we were to the double
first and missed it and in Chris "Jabber" Green's singles game he won
the first leg and
then he must have started thinking about what his beloved Lotty had
promised to do if he won his singles and strangely his arm went all a
quiver..... Meanwhile Clintos "The Greek" Chivers had his best game for a while, hitting all his
doubles with the ease and grace of a hungry cheetah bringing down a
galloping gazelle.
Andy "dirty" Hoare had another good singles win and the king of the
pouches, Marsupial Man Chris Kibbey played
a blinder in the pairs. Cliff "the quiff", now returned from his
sabbatical in a dark room adjacent to
Susan Boyle, was in masterful form and won both his pairs and singles,
"you're not wrong!"
We are heading back to the same venue next week to
play their "A" team so warm up those chicken nibbles.....
