Game Review
Once again we had a home fixture and with just three games to go this was an important one. In for the CODS for the 4 a side were the two Chris', The Greek and The Hoare, touch and go all the way but the Chequers hit their double first dart so we started one nil down. First on in the singles was Burford's most eligible bachelor Cintos The Greek Chivers, was miles behind on the first let but the Chequers man could not hit the double and The Greek nicked it, he quickly followed that up with a good second leg for a 2-0 win. Match now 1-1. Second on for the CODS was The Quiff, trading big scores with the Chequers man he powered the first leg, the second was close with Cliff missing darts for the game and the Chequers man stealing it, now the all important third leg, Cliff was not at his swaying best and left himself double 16 for the game but the Chequers man hit treble 3 and tops to win 2-1. CODS now 1-2 down. The Hoare was next up, backed up by his groupies, Mum, Auntie Jane, sis and the heavily pregnant misses so he was under no pressure to perform! He narrowly lost the first leg but rallied to make it 1-1, the Chequers man played well in the third and although Andy matched him the throw proved decisive as his opponent was first at the double and made no mistake, a loss for Andy 1-2 and the match now stands at 1-3 down. Last on in the singles was yours truly and after a little double trouble at the end of the first leg I won 2-0 to reduce the deficit to 2-3. The pairs was next and we had our A team out, The Quiff and the marsupial man limbered up in the corner and prepared themselves for battle, they went 1-0 down playing poorly but rallied to win the second leg and level at 1-1. The third was a hard leg, the Chequers lads were scoring for fun and a close finish resulted in a double ten win for the Chequers. The match now lost at 2-4 myself and Jabber up next to try and get that important point, Jabber scored well in the first leg and a combination of us being so far in front and complacency saw us go down 1-0, we rallied for the second winning to level at 1-1 and easily won the third for the 2-1 win, Jabber was in majestic form and worried about breaking a stem or a flight managed to get through the whole game without damaging either through his new tactic of not throwing three darts at the same target, whether this was intentional or not I guess we will never know ;) Anyway we lost 4-3, yes I repeat we LOST 4-3, what will we do now our unbeaten record is gone! On the whole we all played quite well but the Chequers boys played better, The Quiff losing his first singles game this year. Next week we are away to the Angel so we need to rebound from this and get a good result.
